Overcoming Installation Challenges with Flexible Rational Combi Oven Configuration
IDL has successfully completed another installation for The Chorus Trust at Eckington School, demonstrating our team’s problem-solving expertise in commercial kitchen equipment.
Following our initial installation of a 20-grid Rational iCombi Classic last year, the school approached us for an additional combi oven. However, recent kitchen modifications presented significant challenges:
- A new exit/entry door had been installed, limiting equipment access
- The existing electrical infrastructure had reached its maximum capacity
- Traditional 20-grid electric combi oven installation was no longer feasible
Our engineering team proposed an innovative solution: a stacked configuration of two 6-grid Rational gas combi ovens. This approach addressed multiple constraints:
- Overcame spatial limitations
- Worked within existing electrical supply restrictions
- Maintained the required cooking capacity
- Provided flexibility in kitchen layout
The installation marks an important milestone for our team member Scott, who is working towards his Gas Safe qualification. The project will contribute to his Comcat 5 certification, which covers forced draft burner appliances including combi ovens and pizza ovens.
