The Food Store Kitchen at The Metrodome in Barnsley was recently given a facelift by Barnsley Premier Leisure (BPL). They approached us to plan and provide a quote for a new satellite kitchen, as the original one had domestic units and worktops.

Once our team was awarded the project, Barnsley Premier Leisure kindly removed the old domestic units, clearing the way for IDL to work our magic. Our first task was to install hygienic wall cladding on three walls, ensuring a clean and safe environment for food preparation. To achieve this, we utilised our expertise in sanitary engineering and employed high-quality materials.
In addition to the wall cladding, we partnered with ML Stainless Fabrications Ltd., renowned experts in stainless-steel fabrications. Their commitment to quality and precision aligned perfectly with our own standards. Together, we transformed the kitchen space with a range of high-quality stainless-steel fabrications, including countertops, shelves, and other essential fittings. The result was a sleek and functional kitchen that would meet the rigorous demands of a professional catering facility.
One of the significant challenges we encountered during the project was the plumbing. We had to connect all the drains to an existing Saniflow drain pump, which required careful planning and execution. Our team of skilled engineers rose to the occasion, devising innovative solutions to ensure smooth water flow and efficient drainage. Despite the complexity of the task, we successfully completed the plumbing work within the allocated time frame.
Thanks to the tireless efforts of our team, the new kitchen was ready for use on Friday afternoon. The catering staff of Barnsley Premier Leisure swiftly moved in and were operational by Saturday morning, just in time for the busy bank holiday weekend. The seamless transition from the old kitchen to the upgraded space minimised disruption and allowed the facility to continue serving its customers without any delay.
